Hello hello! I’m excited to go “beyond the outfits” today and bring you a fun recap of my little getaway to the Catskills last weekend. Let’s dive in!
I went with two girlfriends to celebrate our friend’s birthday, and it was - dare I say - a perfect three day weekend. On Friday morning, I picked the girls up in Brooklyn and we drove up to Hunter, NY. By 11:30 we were checked into our hotel! The dream. We stayed at Scribner’s and it was LOVELY. Highly recommend! A few pics, if you’ll indulge me…
We quickly unpacked, I hastily explained I would be taking a lot of pictures and videos of myself walking, but that it was ok to laugh and make fun of me*, and we all moved on with our day.
*they never made fun of me, they were supportive content cheerleaders, and I was the only one laughing at myself. YOLO!

We grabbed a quick bite at the hotel restaurant, Prospect, then drove a few minutes to go shopping. Most of the shops were fun to poke around in, but not exactly my speed. That changed when we walked into this candle studio:
When I say this shop smelled like actual heaven on earth, I am not exaggerating. I smelled every single one, and ultimately decided on Tomato + Mint and Rosemary + Sage. Divine!
We popped in a few more stores, with the highlight being Tannersville Works. They had a great assortment of art, vintage home wares, jewelry, etc.

I saw this gold-tone collar necklace in the case and was like a moth to the flame. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out it was only $70! They have a good assortment online too if you are curious. I am seriously into this one which is on sale for $100. Someone should snatch it up!
We then returned to the hotel restaurant for dinner, and it did not disappoint. I’m trying to peer pressure my friend to start a cooking Substack because not only is she extremely talented at cooking/baking (you should have seen the spread she put together for my baby shower) but she’s also a GREAT food photographer. I can’t for the life of me take an appetizing photo of food, so all food pics in this post were taken by her. Credit where credit is due!
No photographic evidence exists, but we did go to the lovely sauna after dinner and I wore this red J Crew swimsuit ($50 on sale, sizes 0-24) and it is SO comfortable! I bought the long torso version and it’s perfect for me (I’m 5’9”).
Then it was off to dreamland- thankfully the bed and pillows were very comfortable and I slept well. Not always my strong suit in a bed other than my own!
This was the day I was most excited for, because we had reservations for the spa at Inness. If you aren’t familiar with this property, it is in Accord (about an hour south of where we stayed) and it is a bucolic paradise. Bonus points- it was designed by one of my favorite firms, Post Company. If you’re into interior design, do yourself a favor and spend ten minutes poking around their website. A feast for the eyes!
When we planned this a few months ago, I knew I wanted to wear a dress to this property (when in Rome, ya know) and I had a VERY specific vision. I haven’t shopped at Zara in years but Pinterest served up this dress to me and it was exactly what I wanted. It was part of their “ZW Collection” and linen, and it seems well made. I’m sure it will only get worn once or twice a year, but I’m happy to have it in my closet!

After a quick pit stop at Fred’s for donuts (they were SO good) we were Inness bound! We had lunch reservations and massages booked, but we had a bit of time to explore the property and snap a few photos first:

After lunch and checking out the gift shop, we made our way over to the spa. We had booked 60 minute custom massages, which also gave us access to all the amenities for 90 minutes before/after as well. I feel like that’s a huge perk and while I was getting my massage I was already mentally planning my next visit.

It was such a special place, I didn’t even feel sad leaving because I am sure I’ll go back up there soon. We drove back to our hotel (saw many a baby deer on the way btw) and then I contemplated staying in my same outfit for dinner, but ultimately decided I needed a costume change. I had also bought this little cotton slip dress from Zara back in early June (sold out sadly) and it’s pretty sheer but so pretty and light. I broke my own rule and bought a slip (I’m usually very anti adding-extra-steps when getting dressed) and don’t regret it. I felt like my best Catskills self! Nobody puts Baby in a corner!

After dinner we did snail mucin face masks and passed out early. Which is my idea of a good time!
I woke up before my friends, slipped out of our room in my pjs and flip flops, grabbed a coffee and then tip-toed back to our balcony to read my book. Bliss!

I totally forgot I left the balcony door open when I ducked back out for a second cup of coffee and the vacuum it created slammmed the hotel room door shut, giving my friends a little jolt and a rude wake up call. Sorry ladies! But with an 11 am checkout and a strong desire for more donuts from Fred’s it was probably a good thing. We chit chatted outside for a bit then got ourselves together and went on a quick donut run. I wanted to be comfy for the drive home, so jeans and a tank it was.. but the necklace is the outfit maker!

As amazing as the donut from Fred’s was, we needed more sustenance for the road, so we sat down for a second breakfast at.. you guessed it… Prospect.
Then we officially hit the road! It was so fun to get away with my friends and celebrate my besties birthday. She is an amazing person and I’m so lucky to have her in my life :) And here’s hoping she’ll bless us with her own newsletter soon….
Thanks for reading!!! And Happy 4th to all my U.S. readers!!!

EMILY!!! I’d like to submit my application to go on a future friend trip to a spa with you. I’ll even be your Instagram husband for the trip! Haha but seriously, this trip looks like a dream and YOU are a dream in the dresses you brought.
A DREAM. I’d like to go on the next trip, please!!
Saving this because we’re headed to Inness later this year, and I want to visit all the places you went to.
Also, this made me laugh HARD
