Okay you’re making me want to open up my Indyx again. Also, I see you’re a Buck Mason gal and I own the Idyllwild Cashmere Crew and I love it. It has a tight waistband and it comes in a darker red and an olive green. Mentioning in case one of those colors is one your considering!
Lastly, I love the delivery vehicles note. I agree! I find it easier and less intimidating to add color through accessories. It feels like an easier way to inch myself into a territory I’m still figuring out.
This was my first Buck Mason purchase but I’m obsessed with Leanne Ford so I figure, hey, her husbands company must be good too haha. I lovvvvvvve this sweatshirt, omg. It’s so good.
And yes! Shoes and accessories are the best way to maximize one black wrap dress, or one pair of black pants, etc.
I’m a huge Buck Mason fan, so if you ever have questions about an item I might have own it or tried it on 😅 I also wrote an extensive article a while back in case you’re curious in the future!
I will definitely take you up on that! I stopped by the store recently and they only carried the men’s assortment. So I have lots of questions. Going to your post about it now!
I can see myself in that closet from 2010 and now too, and I can't help but think that maybe we are more influenced by fashion eras than we would like to admit. It's true that the common thread should always be ourselves and our style, but it's incredible how we've all migrated towards sober colors these years and you're not the first (I see myself here too) who feels that now she wants a bit of color in her closet and the return of some print. I love how you reflect on each item of clothing and I thought it was brilliant to make a fake montage about your outfits with the animal print boots. I sincerely believe that your reflections are powerful and these are the substracks that I like to follow. Thank you for writing it and for being so thorough in your analysis. ❤️🙂
Susan!!! Thank you, truly! I know.. isn’t it so fascinating? That 2010 closet is before the rise of instagram and influencers and … it shows. I feel like slowly slowly slowly, I lost the spark in my wardrobe. I’m excited to tune out some noise and get it back!
Ok laughing at the Butter Delivery Vehicles because my husband operates under the same framework; I make homemade rolls that are 50% butter and he covers them in butter!? But I actually loved the way you photoshopped those boot on to yourself because it's living proof they would work in your closet. I am experimenting with adding color to my wardrobe in small ways and, yet, I still reach for black all the time. Old habit, dying hard, something like that. But I do have a grape-ish colored shirt that I swore I'd wear tomorrow!!
Lol my dad will smother pumpkin “bread” in butter hahaha. I’m like; dad! That is like a whole stick of butter! Pumpkin bread is its OWN butter delivery vehicle. Lol the photoshopping is my new thing I think. Super helpful!
Your looks from the January challenge were all so gorgeous and I can’t believe they’re from only 30 items! The challenge was definitely a bright spot for me this month and I’m switched to a paid subscription too. I’ve been having a ball reading through the archives - so many gems!
I love the idea of microdosing color! I think we had the same wardrobe in 2010 - I'm very glad to be on the minimalist end of the pendulum in 2025 :) If you're not already following her, you might like Anouk Yve https://www.instagram.com/anoukyve/. She adds in soft color through scarves and jackets and occasionally mixes in patterns and true color.
Anouk is the queen bee of minimalism! Love love love her style!! And yes… although I’m happy to be where I’m currently at with my style, I think I need to shake it up and take more risks this year. I just ordered a whacky pair of pants from TRR so we’ll see how they fit! 2010 Emily would approve (I think)
Isn’t it amazing?? I hardly ever paint my nails but I did a bright orange red the other day and it was noteworthy/noticeable to me. It was fun and refreshing!
Loved this recap and the pieces of insight you took from the challenge. I LOVED getting to know your style from the daily chats and excited to see what some of the new color looks like incorporated into your style 💜 also I’ve hearted & unhearted so many pairs of snakeskin boots recently in my TRR loves and now after seeing your excellent photo shop have upped the hearts again 😂
Well, right back at you!!! Those chats were the bright spot of this month for me 💕💕 I love seeing women uplifting women! We gotta stick together! And I know, snakeskin boots are FUN but they have to be good quality. It’s a fine line, and not sure I want to spend the $$$ but we’ll see.
I love these mood boards for taking baby steps to add colour to your wardrobe! This is definitely what I need. It's such a smart way of trying something new while making sure it still aligns with your style. As someone who also doesn't wear a lot of colour, I could definitely see myself trying out any of these options. So good! x
Isn’t it magical??? I know it’s “bad” to buy multiples in different colors, but I want it in grey now too. Honestly, Sogole, it might be my favorite item I own right now. It feel LUXE!

It’s tricky because sometimes they’re combined, sometimes they’re separate. They are expanding their woman line so more stores should pop up :)
I keep coming back to this olive green silk shirt from Buck Mason - any chance you’ve tried it?
Sadly I have not!!
I own the black version!

I need to carve out an hour this weekend and read through her previous posts as well! So grateful she put that together for us this month!!

Her wardrobe and styling are so good. Looking forward to your wacky TRR pants!
I felt the ‘micro dosing’ colour idea so hard! Just painted my nails red after many seasons of muted greens and chocolate. It makes such a difference!

In love with the mood boards and the color scheme!
My closet used to also look like that, but instead of stripes with lots of pinks and flowers! Where has my personality gone!?
It’s funny how it happened, right?? I really want to find out my grown-up 2025 version of that fun spirit I used to have! This is our year!
Ahhhh the 2010 closet. I was so there with you. Still not totally sure what happened.
It was allllll color! I’m excited to embrace having fun with clothes this year 🍿

Love the moodboards, very inspiring! I have also been really into snake prints lately in small touches like a belt or a silk sheer vintage top.
The Buck Mason sweatshirt is one of my favorite items I own right now!!!
Isn’t it magical??? I know it’s “bad” to buy multiples in different colors, but I want it in grey now too. Honestly, Sogole, it might be my favorite item I own right now. It feel LUXE!
Oh it’s not bad to buy in multiples!! I say go for it!
I never have, but this sweatshirt might get me to break that silly “rule”!
Thank you for being here!!! And good pointer on the Sezane button up! I’ve been looking at that site and wondering!
